Seasoned Oven Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Oven roasted sweet potatoes are our favorite way to use our sweet potatoes. I will usually go ahead and start these at the beginning of cooking since they do take some extra in the oven.

Prep time: 15 Minutes | Cook Time: 45 Minutes


  • 1-2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch squares

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground chili powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano (rosemary or thyme, really your preference)

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder


  1. Preheat your oven to 425

  2. Peel and cube your sweet potatoes if you have not yet

  3. Add sweet potatoes to a large baking pan with foil (leave them in a clump in the middle to make for easier mixing)

  4. Add your olive oil and seasonings to potatoes, and thoroughly mix (I do this part with my hands)

  5. Arrange your sweet potatoes in an even layer on the pan, you do not want them overlapping or touching (they become steamy instead of crispy if they're overlapped)

  6. Bake for about 35-45 minutes (until tender and crispy), stirring every 15 minutes or so

  7. I will taste test mine a little over halfway through and see how I want to adjust the taste.  I often will sprinkle brown sugar over top or add more sea salt.
