French Bread Croutons

With all of the salad mix received in farm shares, I wanted to start making our own croutons. This also works great if you have bread that is starting to go a little stale. I use whatever herbs I have on hand, just chop them and sprinkle on top before baking. Store in an air tight container.

Prep Time: 10 Minutes | Cook Time: 15 Minutes

  • 1 loaf of French bread, cut into equal size cubes (size of choice)

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning (or any herbs you have on hand such as rosemary, sage, oregano, thyme)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ¾ tsp fine sea salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  1. Preheat oven to 375

  2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper

  3. In a large bowl drizzle the olive oil over the bread crumbs.

  4. Evenly sprinkle the seasonings over the bread cubes and toss until combined

  5. Spread bread cubes out in a single layer on baking sheet

  6. Cooking time will depend on the thickness, so watch to be sure they don’t burn (mine generally take about 15 minutes).  Turn cubes about half way through.

  7. Remove from oven and let cool
